Local Processing Architecture

LocalTranscribe processes audio transcription locally on your device during the transcription process. This local processing approach provides enhanced privacy control compared to cloud-based alternatives.

Important: Data Flow Accuracy

While transcription processing occurs locally, you control what data leaves your computer. The software includes optional integrations (such as Clio) and export features that allow you to share transcripts when you choose to do so. We do not automatically transmit your data, but you have the ability to export and share your transcripts through available integrations and export functions.

Data Collection & Website Analytics

Website Usage: We collect standard web analytics data (page views, user interactions, conversion events) to improve our services.
Account Information: We collect necessary account details (name, email, billing information) for service provision.
Support Data: Customer support interactions may be recorded for quality and training purposes.
No Audio Storage: We do not store your audio files or transcripts on our servers unless you explicitly use cloud-based features.

Third-Party Integrations

When you use optional integrations (such as Clio, practice management software, or cloud storage services), your data handling is subject to both our terms and the terms of those third-party services. You are responsible for understanding and agreeing to the data handling practices of any integrated services you choose to use.

2. Service Terms & Usage

Service Description

LocalTranscribe provides professional transcription software and related services. Our freemium model includes 5 minutes of free transcription per month, with volume-based pricing available through paid subscriptions.

Account Terms

You must provide accurate information when creating an account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
You may not share your account with others or create multiple accounts
We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms

Payment Terms

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected
All fees are non-refundable except as required by law
Price changes will be communicated with 30 days advance notice
Failed payments may result in service suspension

Service Availability

While we strive for high availability, we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Scheduled maintenance and updates may cause temporary service interruptions.

4. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LOCALTRASCRIBE AND LEXOPOLY LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OUR SERVICES.

No Warranty

This software and service are provided "AS IS" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of Damages

In no event shall our total liability to you for all damages, losses, and causes of action exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

Professional Liability Exclusion

We are not liable for professional consequences, legal outcomes, medical decisions, or business losses resulting from transcript usage. Users assume full responsibility for professional application of transcripts.

LocalTranscribe's local processing architecture supports HIPAA compliance requirements by keeping data on your local device during transcription. However, HIPAA compliance depends on your implementation, policies, and procedures. We do not guarantee automatic HIPAA compliance and recommend consulting with compliance professionals.

Legal & Regulatory Compliance

Recording Consent: You are responsible for obtaining proper consent before recording and transcribing any audio.
Confidentiality: Professional confidentiality obligations (attorney-client privilege, doctor-patient confidentiality) are your responsibility to maintain.

You retain ownership of your audio files and transcripts. By using our services, you grant us a limited license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing transcription services.

Open Source Components

LocalTranscribe incorporates open source components. All components are used in compliance with their respective licenses. A complete list of open source licenses is available in the software.

LocalTranscribe software is licensed, not sold. Your license is subject to these terms and may be revoked for violations.
